Sata takes early lead

Patriotic Front leader Micahel Sata has taken an early lead from Presidential election results announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia from three constituencies so far.

According to results announced at the National Totaling centre at Mulungushi international conference centre by Electoral Commission of Zambia Public relations manager Cris Akufuna, Mr Sata has won Nchange constituency with 21,427 votes followed by MMD's Rupiah Banda with 2,893 votes, FDD's Edith Nawakwi has come third with 871 votes and UPND's Hakainde Hichilema is fourth with 842 votes.

Heritage party's Brigadier general Godfrey Miyanda polled 51 votes,UNIP's Tilyenji Kaunda has 29 votes,NAREP's Elias Chipimo has polled 26 votes and NMP's Ng'andu Magande had 24 votes.

Charles Milupi of ADD polled 20 votes and ZED's Fred Mtesa polled 6 votes.

And MMD's Rupiah Banda has won Chavuma constituency with 6,042 votes, followed by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema with 3,288 votes, and PF's Michael Sata in third place with 238 votes.

FDD's Edith Nawakwi polled 37 votes,ADD's Charles Milupi has 14 votes, Heritage party's Godfrey Miyanda has 15 votes and UNIP's Tilyenji Kaunda polled 13 votes.

Ng'andu Magande of National Movement for Progress polled 8 votes,NAREP's Elias Chipimo Junior had 13 votes and ZED's Fred Mtesa polled 3 votes.

In Feira constituency MMD's Rupiah Banda has polled 3,853 votes, followed by PF's Michael Sata with 2,408 votes, with UPND's Hakainde Hichilema coming third with 742 votes.

The PF candidates for Nchanga Wilbur Simuusa has since retained the seat with 18,136 votes,while the MMD's Kenneth Konga has retained the Chavuma seat with 6,028 votes.

The MMD's Patrick Ngoma has also won the Feira seat with 3,490 votes.

Results from constituencies across the country are expected to continue trickling in as most totaling centres tally results from polling stations.
