Deputy Finance Minister Miles Sampa says government will ensure that Chinese investment in the country translates into job creation.

Mr. Sampa notes that just like most of the western countries that have continued to have trade relations with China; Zambia will always remain open to Chinese economic relations through trade and investment.

The minister however notes that government will ensure that the Chinese investors comply with the legal provisions that protect the interests of Zambians.

Mr. Sampa has also noted that government has no plans of banning export of raw copper because Zambia has no capacity to process it.

He adds that government however, has long term plans of setting up processing plants saying value addition to copper will contribute to creation of employment.

Mr. Sampa was speaking during the Live BBC Africa debate in Lusaka today.
