Rev Masupa dismisses Oasis Forum demands

The Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) has dismissed demands by the Oasis Forum for Republican Vice President George Kunda to resign for misleading the nation on the constitution making process.

ICOZ Board Chairperson Reverend David Masupa has described calls for the vice president to resign as totally misplaced and ill conceived.

He says such calls are aimed at causing confusion in the country ahead of the forthcoming tripartite elections.

Reverend Masupa says the Oasis forum has been a critique of the Mung'omba Constitution Review Commission (CRC) and wonders why they have turned around to support the Mung'omba draft constitution.

He states that the demand by the Oasis forum for a new constitution before this year's elections a ploy to cause strife in the country.

Reverend Masupa adds that the NCC retained all the recommendations of the Mung'omba draft except for the contentious clauses that were subjected to the referendum.

And Reverend Masupa has also condemned those calling on former NCC delegates to apologize to Zambians for their inability to take on board people's recommendations as submitted to the Mung'omba CRC.

Yesterday, former Church of God overseer Bishop John Mambo called on all those who participated in the NCC deliberations to apologize to Zambians for failing to uphold the aspirations of the Zambian people.
