Mataka, Mwananjiti warned and cautioned

The Government Joint Investigations Team has today warned and cautioned Ngande Mwanajiti, and former Zambia Daily Mail Deputy Managing Director Davies Mataka, in connection with the publication of a tabloid called the 'Zambian Newspaper' in which the Zambian Government lost Two Hundred and Five million Kwacha (K205,000,000).

Mr. Mwanajiti, the proprietor of the Zambian Newspaper has been cautioned for the Offence of Corrupt Acquisition of Public Property and Revenue Contrary to Section 33 (1) (a) 0f the Anti-Corruption Act No. 38 of 2010, while Mr. Mataka, former Deputy Managing Director of Zambia Daily Mail has been cautioned for the Offence of Corrupt Acquisition of Public Property and Revenue Contrary to Section 33 (1) (b) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 38 of 2010.

Particulars are that the duo between 1st January 2011 and 1st November 2011 did acquire and diverted K 205,000,000 from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services which was used in the publication of the 'Zambian Newspaper' which was a privately owned newspaper.

This is contained in a statement released to Qfm news by Government Joint Investigations Team acting Public Relations Officer Christopher Chibanku.
