Chief Chikanta of southern province has welcomed government's plans to resume the mandatory Zambia National Service (ZNS) skills training programme for the youth in the country.
The traditional leader told QFM news that the programme once implemented would help the youths in the country acquire skills that would help them earn a living.
Chief Chikanta has also suggested that the education curriculum must be revised in order to incorporate the skills training aspect.
He said this will accord the youths who drop out of school an opportunity to acquire basic skills that would help them to generate income.
Chief Chikanta has also urged the government to ensure that youth empowerment fund once established to also benefit the youths in the rural areas.
